Gianna Jessen Abortion Survivor in Australia Part 1 (by TellTheTruthTV)

My hero. This isn’t a political vid, but I got to throw in my 2 cents. Obama is for post birth saline abortions. It is outlawed for the time being though, thanks to Bush!

Part 2 below!

If it’s “post birth”, that’s not abortion; that’s murder. Abortions only occur before birth.

I found out I was pregnant 3 days after I’d lost my job. I was 19, newly married & already thousands of dollars in debt. No woman should have to choose between poverty or social stigma & shame. I am proud to be 1 in 3!

If a single living cell was found on some other planet, scientists would exclaim that we have found LIFE elsewhere in the universe.

So why is a single living cell found in the womb of a pregnant woman not considered LIFE?

I’m sick of seeing this.  A fertilized egg is alive.  So is an unfertilized egg.  And a separate sperm cell.  But life is not personhood.  Embryo’s and fetuses are alive.  But they do not have personhood, that is the issue, get it right.

In a one‐track quest to convince women not to choose abortion, anti‐choice advocates at crisis pregnancy centers may even advise women to take measures that are dangerous to their health and safety. In 12th & Delaware (documentary) a young mother of two tells a CPC counselor that she is considering abortion because her boyfriend is abusive and she needs to do what is best for her children. The counselor protests, arguing “for all you know, the baby changes him.” Suggesting a woman remain in an abusive relationship reveals that, to this counselor, women’s health and safety are hardly even afterthoughts.

“I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.”

- Elie Wiesel, Holocaust Survivor

We have dealt with this asshat-ery before at PCG.  Elie Wiesel, who you have correctly identified as a Holocaust survivor, said this when asked specifically about abortion and the raging debate about reproductive health care:

What should be done is to give back the human proportion to the abortion issue, and when we see it as such we may be able to have much more understanding for the woman who chooses it. Women who choose abortion are consistently labeled killers, and I personally have been compared to Hitler and called a great murderer.

A woman who feels she cannot go on, and with pain and despair she decides that she has to give up her child, is this woman a killer? Really really. But look, you cannot let these words hurt you. You have to be strong not to pay any attention because those who do that call you a Hitler and relate it to the Holocaust prove that they do not know what the Holocaust was.

Did you see those bolded parts?  The man who actually went through the Holocaust says that anyone who makes the comparison to abortion immediately reveals their ignorance.  He also said that, because he is pro-choice, he has been “compared to Hitler and called a great murderer.”  Take a second to think about the fact that pro-life people have actually compared Elie Wiesel, the Holocaust survivor, to Hitlerbecause of this misguided and ignorant comparison.  What does it say about your stance that a Holocaust survivor and well renowned intellectual has both come out to strike down the comparison and been compared to the man who was responsible for the genocide of his people?  Elie Wiesel is an amazing person.  Do not misappropriate his words to fit your cause.  Take this as an invitation to re-examine the pro-life crowd.

OKLAHOMA CITY—More than 600 people traveled to the Oklahoma state capital on February 28 to show their opposition to proposed legislation that would grant “personhood” to fertilized eggs as early as conception.

The crowd was diverse, and the spirit was militant and angry. The opening speaker, Lauren Zuniga, recited a rendition of her poem “To the Oklahoma Lawmakers.”

Protesters, who traveled from all over the state, gathered on the Capitol steps to voice their anger at the bill, tell their stories and vow to fight. Everyone had a story. Several speakers spoke of their experiences with abortion.

A woman who was raped when she was 17 and decided to terminate her pregnancy spoke. So did a clinic worker who had to tend to a battered 14-year-old victim of a gang rape. If this bill passes, what would happen if that girl became pregnant? Would she be forced to carry her pregnancy to term?

Another woman told her story about being raped, but choosing to bring her pregnancy to term. Her story made it clear—it was still her choice, and if she wanted to terminate, she should be allowed to. The stories were often heart-wrenching and at times difficult to hear, but all made the point that this is a woman’s choice and hers alone.

The crowd was large enough that several legislators came out to see us, and a few even spoke. A woman Republican legislator made an on-the-spot party affiliation change.

The crowd was diverse in every sense—young and old, white, Black, Hispanic and Asian, from button-up and conservative in dress to punk rockers and everything in between. It was far from the “fringe rally” that some in the local media reported.

… The pro-choice movement here has long been either dormant or unwilling to organize to protest the anti-choice crowds, but this rally may be the beginning of a real resurgence for choice.

Gotta hurt.

This quote was decades before abortion was legal.  Illegal and unprofessionally preformed abortions are dangerous to health and future fertility.  If you don’t want that to be the case, stop fighting for abortion to be illegal again.

transgressblog:

“In 1948, when this doctor was an intern in a Pittsburgh hospital, a woman was admitted with severe pelvic sepsis after a bad abortion. She was beautiful, married to someone important and wealthy, and already in renal failure. Over the next couple of days, despite heroic efforts to save her, a cascade of systemic catastrophes due to the overwhelming infection culminated with the small blood vessels bursting under her skin, bruises breaking out everywhere as if some invisible fist were punching her over and over, and she died. Being well-to-do didn’t always save you.

Her death was so horrible that it made him, he recalls, physically ill. He describes his anger, but says he didn’t quite know with whom to be angry. It took him another 20 years to understand that it was not the abortionist who killed her — it was the legal system, the lawmakers who had forced her away from the medical community, who ‘… killed her just as surely as if they had held the catheter or the coat hanger or whatever. I’m still angry. It was all so unnecessary.’

All so unnecessary.”

I will always reblog a link to this article.  If you haven’t read it, you really should.  No matter what your stance on abortion, everyone needs to educate themselves about what has and will happen when abortion is illegal.

That child is not sad.
That child is not angry.
That child is not wondering what kind of life he could of lived.
That child does not think, “Mother, why did you not love me?
That child is not thinking at all.

The only people it immediately affects, are the parents.
It’s their decision, no one else’s.

Not the government.

Not yours.

And not your God’s.
